On Sunday 14th, we were delighted to host our Poomsae Championships, welcoming 20 participants across 5 groups. The event was run over two sessions during the morning, giving each competitor the opportunity to perform two poomsaes and showcase their skill, focus, and commitment.
The competition was judged by Master Lorena Garcia (5th Dan) and Megan Ruiz (2nd Dan), both former GB Poomsae Squad members. Scoring was in line with standard poomsae competitions, with 4.0 points awarded for accuracy and 6.0 points for presentation, ensuring both technical precision and overall performance were fairly assessed.
Participants had the opportunity to practice a range of poomsaes, with the final two poomsaes to be performed announced a week before the event. This encouraged preparation, adaptability, and confidence under pressure.
Chief Instructors Master Ernest (7th Dan) and Edward (7th Dan) Garcia were also present, offering support and encouragement to the competitors throughout the day. The overall standard of performances was very high, and we are incredibly proud of all participants. Everyone did extremely well.

This was our first poomsae competition in a very long time, making it a particularly special occasion. Given the success of the event, poomsae competitions will now become a regular part of our seasonal calendar.
A special thank you to Karissa Garcia, our Secretary, for her invaluable help organising the participants, and to Gabriella Garcia for capturing the day through videos and photos. Thanks also to all the parents and friends who came to support the competitors. Their encouragement made a real difference.
Well done to everyone involved!
