On Tuesday 20th October, we held another exciting Breaking Competition for our Youth and Adult groups, led by Brandon Avellano (2nd Dan). The knockout tournament challenged competitors to demonstrate their power, precision, and technical ability using adjustable puzzle boards ranging from Easy to Hard. With each successful break, participants progressed to the next level, tackling increasingly difficult challenges using both hand and foot techniques. The competition tested not only their physical strength but also their focus and accuracy.

Youth Group Results

The Youth division showcased excellent commitment and technical ability, with several closely contested rounds as competitors worked their way towards the finals.

In the Hand Technique category, Yasmine emerged as the champion following a powerful final showdown against Konstantin, who put up a strong challenge throughout the competition.

In the Foot Technique category, Konstantin bounced back impressively to secure first place, demonstrating excellent kicking technique and precision.

To conclude the Youth session, a special breaking challenge was introduced requiring students to break two boards simultaneously using a coordinated hand-and-foot combination. This exercise gave the young martial artists an opportunity to explore more advanced breaking techniques while developing their timing, coordination, and confidence.

Adult Group Results

The Adult division delivered an impressive display of strength, control, and technical skill, with competitors facing increasingly demanding challenges throughout the evening.

In the Hand Technique category, the difficulty quickly escalated as participants progressed from breaking single boards to tackling double, triple, and even quadruple-stacked boards. These demanding rounds tested the competitors, eventually leading to a thrilling final between Connor and Duncan.

The Foot Technique category proved equally challenging, with competitors required to demonstrate increasingly advanced kicking techniques. One of the highlights was the introduction of the highly technical mondollyo nako chagi (spinning hook kick), which tested both accuracy and control.

A special mention goes to Eva Baglietto, the youngest competitor in the Adult group, who impressed everyone with her determination and ability, progressing through several rounds to reach the final stages of the competition.

Ultimately, Duncan claimed victory in both categories, demonstrating exceptional consistency and technique throughout the evening. Connor secured second place in the Hand Technique category after a hard-fought final.

A massive thank you to Brandon Avellano (2nd Dan) for organising and leading the competition, creating an exciting and challenging environment for all participants. His guidance throughout the session helped students push their limits while continuing to develop their breaking techniques.

Finally, congratulations to all participants from our Youth and Adult groups for their effort and courage. Breaking competitions require more than physical strength; they demand concentration, confidence, precision, and the determination to overcome increasingly difficult challenges. Every competitor demonstrated these qualities, and we are incredibly proud of their progress and commitment.

We look forward to seeing everyone continue to develop their skills and take on new challenges at our next competition!
