Gibraltar Taekwondo has had a great start to 2016 with the visit of Master Gemma Biescas 7th Dan (Great Britain National Poomsae Coach), Master Elias Biescas 7th Dan (International medallist in sparring, technical and destruction competitions) and their two daughters, also Black Belts in Taekwondo, to Gibraltar.
The reason for their visit has been as a consequence of a new structure which has been proposed by British Taekwondo where both Masters Edward and Ernest Garcia have been appointed as the Regional Poomsae Coaches for Gibraltar. The role of the Regional Coaches will be to develop players and get as many as possible to elite level.
On Saturday members of our club of over a certain age/belt attended a 4 hour training session offered by both Masters Elias and Gemma Biescas. A 3 hour session was held on Sunday, but this time only for Black Belts.
Making the most of their visit, our two elite players Megan Ruiz and Macy Cornelio, each had an individual training session with Master Gemma Biescas, to review their performance at the forthcoming British Taekwondo International Poomsae Championships being held in Crawley at the end of February 2016.
